Screamstation Fest
An Investigation Into The Specific Relationship Between Sound And Image
An Investigation Into The Specific Relationship Between Sound And Image
Screamstation Fest is a film event that explores the on-going relationship between sound and image in contemporary experimental and narrative cinema.
---> The first Screamstation Fest took place in 2012 at Horse Hospital, London. The selection consisted of twenty three films by authors that drew from art, film, media, popular culture and philosophy. It included work from established artists such as Candice Breitz and Malcolm Le Grice but also introduced work from no less talented lesser known filmmakers, time-based media artists and the like.
All the films that were selected for the event each negotiated this interconnection in a unique yet different way.
Screamstation Fest is a London-based event dedicated to experimental cinema and the creative relationship between sound and image.
The festival presents a curated programme of experimental films, artist moving image and hybrid audiovisual works to an audience interested in contemporary moving image culture.
The event brings together filmmakers, artists, sound practitioners, writers, researchers and students engaged with experimental and innovative forms of cinema.
This year Screamstation Fest invites filmmakers and artists to submit their work via FilmFreeway for consideration for the 2026 programme.
